December 1st

I'm amazed we are to the first day of December already! Our thanksgiving weekend was fairly uneventful. The kids did not have their regular activities so I didn't have to cart them around.

Thanksgiving Day my parents came over for dinner later in the day. We got a turkey that was way to big! We have eaten it for dinner 3 times since and still have leftovers!

Heather stopped over and dropped off a loaf of cranberry bread. It was totally unexpected and a really nice surprise.

Friday we visited with out if town friends in the morning. Then the kids and I met Ron at the church to move a bunch of preschool sets to the storage unit. That was a joy and pleasure as usual.

Saturday morning it was back to the church to get 2 sets ready for Sunday morning.

Ron and the 4 big kids went to my parents Saturday afternoon while the little girls napped. Ron and Mitchell went hunting again. I hope they get a deer after the time they are investing. Although I guess it is barely any time compared to serious hunters.

While they were gone I actually watched 2 movies/documentaries on netflix. One was "Stuck" and the other was "Somewhere Between." Both are about adoption.

Among everything I've been doing dishes and laundry. I'm just waiting for either my dishwasher, washing machine, or dryer to die. I'm trying to prepare myself that it would not be the end of the world and we use all 3 more than normal people. I just hope all 3 are good for awhile longer.

Kate has been sleeping on her big girl bed more often than not. I've been putting her in there with the baby gate in the door. She has been pretty good about staying in her bed. Last night I did have to put her in the crib, but she had a longer nap, so I guess it's understandable she would have a hard time falling to sleep.

Today she drew a face on an angel puppet at church. Two eyes, mouth, and nose....HUGE!!!

What JOY in watching her unfold.

The other progress.....when visiting friends, rather than being very aggressive as she had before, she still went through the motions, but was controlled and held back her strength.

She also turned to me at one point and asked if the people were our friends?

Interesting she is categorizing and trying to figure out where people fit in her world.

She's definitely a one step forward 2 steps sideways kinda kid. For all the progress I see.....she took off like a stinker when given a chance in big church this morning. And she came home and colored all over the floor with a pencil. You just have to point her in the right direction I guess :)

One holiday down. Yay!
