We have hung a really large map in our dining room, and are doing a year long study on the United States. My intention was to do this for mainly the older kids, but the littles have really taken an interest as well.
Kate has already learned the name and location of at least 8 states, which was pretty amazing to me! The kids look at the map while eating and will stop, get up, go look at it, then come back and keep eating.
We are studying the states in the order of their admittance to The Union :) What tickled us was Dad actually did NOT know the first state admitted! (Amazing)
Each child is taking a turn making the state flag. Each child has a state report assignment for each state (age appropriate.)
It has been a fun project. We will see how long it really takes! So far we are already behind, but we are having fun :)
