Shen Kai Mu
An orphan found to have no parents.
What do you even say about a baby picture of your child this little? She was tiny, I hope someone held her and loved her.
The picture that started it all!

This is the story of our adoption....one year of waiting and what we could not share online!
I quickly was hooked up with a yahoo group for our Social Welfare Institute (or orphanage)
XuZhou Social Welfare Institute in the province of Jiangsu, China. On that yahoo group I searched through numerous albums of families who had recently travelled to XuZhou (or XZ) to see if I could find pictures of our little girl!
And I DID!!!
picture taken in August of 2011
I perhaps (maybe) let it slip somehow in someway that a family might possibly be coming for Shen Kai Mu. I was rewarded in October :)
And you all wonder why I was a whack job by this summer....I KNEW last FALL THIS was sitting in a CRIB and was MINE!!!!!!
We sent her a package, and a little outfit. They smeared cake on her face.
Look at that porcelain skin. It was November and Thanksgiving time.
A family traveled and I got pictures! yay! That dark head of hair would continue to be her trademark among the traveling families.
December. Not much holiday spirit from Mama this year. Another traveling family. My baby has moved from a crib to a walker. That is good. I suppose.
Hair plastered to head because of the layers of clothing. The heat is not good anywhere in China...neither is air conditioning for that matter. It's not just the SWI's it's everywhere. Although certainly the SWI's are probably much worse off than the 5 star hotels!
Meanwhile back home we are preparing paperwork and attempting (HARD) to get passport photos! lol
January
Mama played room mother. Happy Chinese New Year baby girl!
Her first "Chinese" outfit...it did not come home with her (oh well!)
The dubbing of the "red bunny" group. All the kids in Quinn's room wore the red bunny outfits. On the yahoo group we referred to them as the "red bunnies."
I do believe they are all home now! Or will be in October.
Notice not only are they in walkers, but tied to the wall. Needless to say, we do not own a walker. Quinn Anne will NEVER be put in one again!
April. Spring...a new season.
But a fun picture...our bud, Henry, who has appeared in several pictures from Quinn's earliest days...and obviously a fellow Red Bunny!! :) Notice the rocking headband. The hair do's will now become commonplace for our little diva!
June 2012
An XZ family went to get their little girl and took Quinn some things.
One was an album with pictures....here she is seeing US! :)
We hope to be traveling to get our daughter soon!
July 2012
Henry again..... :)
An XZ family travels to get their little boy at the end of July.
We get some candid photos!
It is bittersweet.....are you finding that by now?

Children need to be in families.
Period.
I will be a supporter of adoption until the day I die. If you ever want to discuss adoption with me....please do! There are many ways to support adoption, whether by adopting a child or helping someone else adopt.
All children NEED a family.
Our wait was difficult, but perhaps our wait served a purpose. It certainly put us out there in our sphere of influence. If just ONE couple chooses to adopt, or even chooses to sponsor a child, or purchase a t-shirt or necklace from an adoptive family...... or perhaps even chooses to sponsor formula for New Day (through the link on my sidebar!!!) then the year long wait to Quinn Anne was worth it.
