A rainy, rainy day, with thunderstorms to boot. I do have to say, that aside from looking at the yard a few times, I didn't have panic attacky feelings over the rain today. And, I think today was the hardest, and possibly longest, it has rained since "the flood."
On the way home from getting Mitchell's gymnastic team pictures taken I cut down Woodiebrook, which is our normal way home, and the road was flooded across. I was surprised to see it still open. Normally they close the road when it does that (I guess they just hadn't gotten to it yet.) I came to a stop and sat for a minute. The car behind me, actually a crossover of some kind an suv/car type thing, went around me and through. I definately debated. That river is behind my house. It is where the harmless water in my yard went barrelling through and came up through my drains and into my home. I KNOW what that water can do. I was going to back up and over the bridge until I got to the house back before the bridge and turn around....a long way to "back" but I've done it before. However, I finally got the guts up to drive through...I guess it wasn't as deep as I thought. Maybe. And another car went through after I did (a volvo station wagon.)
What stress. I'm not sure I'll ever look at water the same again. Or that stupid river. The thing is, it's like a quarter of a mile from my house and really just a stupid little run off pipe goes through my yard, and through a field to the river. It's not like the river itself even effects me. It still seemed like it was out to get us tonight....even Mitchell said EEK!!! :)
We got the carpet back down in the basement today....yay!!! We will have it professionally cleaned sometime this week, then move everything back in.
