my job

I have a BA in Elementary Education. When I was in the third grade I decided I was going to become an elementary school teacher. I LOVED (loved, loved) my third grade teacher (Mrs Rhodes.) She is still alive, I see her once in awhile around town.

I did teach for a bit, then had our oldest child and have been home ever since. People say all the time, "well...you homeschool...you are still a teacher."

Yeah...not so much. There is absolutely no comparison to being an elementary school teacher to being a homeschool mom. It doesn't make me more qualified, and I don't feel like I am using my education.

But...that's not what I am writing about.

My "real" job and passion is actually something I do as a volunteer. I help with the Early Childhood Ministry at our church.

Today was the *perfect* (perfect, perfect) example of WHY I serve our great big God at FBC.

Early Childhood encompases birth through five years old (when they go to kindergarten.)

We use a Three to Five year old Curriculum published by Willow Creek called Jumping Into God's Story and Growing into a Life of Faith (part of the Promiseland Series.) We LOVE it.

With our Two year olds we have been using the same program but for two's since about March. It is a large group/small group format. The kids do small group in the class room and then come to a large group room for their large group teaching....which is the Bible Teaching.

For the last four weeks the kids have been learning the Christmas Story. The Two Year Old Large Group story was mainly the same every week, just focusing a little bit differently. Like one week it focused on the angel, then the shepherds, then Baby Jesus, then the wisemen.

Today, the fourth week, the kids could have told the story. It was awesome :) To have the two year old kids telling us...

Who is this lady ? Mary

Who came to talk to her? the angel

What did the angel say? Don't be afraid....you're going to have a baby....baby Jesus!!!

Two year olds!!!! Seriously!!!!

SO, SO cool!!!

Love It!
