Gotcha

A lot has happened in the last day. We waited and waited to go to the civil affairs office to meet Quinn. They are open from 8-11:30 and 3-5. Since she was coming from the swi that day, we did not go until 3. These are their summer hours.

This whole gotcha day was totally different than Kate's. We waited and saw them come through the parking lot.
Ms Tang brought her in and handed her directly to me. As soon as she was handed over she cried and cried. Which really is a good thing because it means she knew we were strangers and she didn't just accept going with us.
Kate did a lot better than I thought she would at the gotcha day. She only hit Quinn once, which was a huge concern.

Quinn hates riding in the car. She is walking very unsteadily. Like Kate was, we can sit her in one spot and she won't move at all. Her legs have very little muscle tone. She's very thin, but long. She actually makes Kate look like a moose, and that is saying something!!!

She eats like crazy. Definitely some orphanage behavior there. We didn't have any food issues at all with Kate.

Quinn has very light skin and a much rounder face than Kate. Our guide told me her skin tone is very desired by the Chinese people. I will reserve comment :)

As I have said, our hotel is attached to a mall. We go into it a lot just for something to do.

We are a huge attraction for people. We are the only family adopting in the province this week, so basically we are the only Caucasians around. Now with 2 Chinese toddlers.

There is a fountain in the hotel that children play in with squirt guns (yes I bought Kate one!) people actually bring their kids to be by Kate near the fountain. It drives me nuts.

They will not care for the orphans here. But because my children are Americans they are now special. Had they remained orphans they would have been forgotten, or rather outcast, by their own people.

Wrong.

Look around you today. Do not be that kind of people.

Beautiful!!!!!
These girls are going to be the best of friends in no time!
And do not even get me started on the way they look at orphans ... really sad. As far as the fair skin Caden is just a little too fair making him cursed ...go figure !
Have a wonderful time getting to know this beauty!!!!
Safe travels,
Nicole

Beautiful, lucky, special girls...and lucky parents too! Can't wait to meet your new little one. I hope you are bringing them to co-op this year. I had the same feelings and reactions to the Chinese "public" while we were there adopting as well.
